Coastal Clean Up
This national event is spearheaded by The Ocean Conservancy and coordinated on a regional and local level. It takes place on the third Saturday in September every year. It is a public / private partnership between county and local municipalities, nonprofit organizations and businesses throughout the county. This activity is one of Pasco's most widely recognized, with thousands of volunteers participating by cleaning area waterways, beaches and access roads to aquatic regions within the county.
There are usually 12-20 teams organized across the county. In 2015, 21.89 tons (43,780 pounds) of trash were removed from our streets and waterways by the Coastal Cleanup.
