Engaging the public is an integral part of the Wesley Chapel Roadway Connections Study. To kick off the project, an open-house style public information meeting was held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Pasco-Hernando State College located at 2727 Mansfield Boulevard, Wesley Chapel, Florida. The purpose of the open house was to gather public comments and other information that will be useful in conducting the study. The open house included a brief MPO summary at 6:00 p.m., followed by an opportunity to review the study area map. Representatives from Pasco County Planning and Development, the MPO and the consulting team were available to take comments, address any issues and answer questions.

The comments received at the public meeting have been reviewed and will be considered moving forward. A Draft Study Report will be prepared which evaluates the pros and cons of the three potential roadway connections. A second public meeting will be conducted to present the Draft Study Report results along with a 30-day comment period to allow input from the public on the findings. The comments will be reviewed, the study report will be updated, and a Final Study Report will be made available to the public. An online opinion poll will be conducted which will enable the public to vote (yes or no) on the proposed connections. The results of the Final Study Report and all public involvement efforts (including the opinion poll) will then be presented to the MPO Board for consideration and to make final recommendation to Pasco County Board of County Commissioners.
